Privacy Policy

What we collect

We only store what you give us to run the app:

• Account: your email address and a securely hashed password.
• Meals: the meal descriptions, photos, items, and macros you log.
• Goals & profile: optional body stats (age, gender, height, weight, activity, objective) used to calculate your targets.
• Food preferences: optional dietary preferences and allergies you choose to enter, used to tailor meal suggestions. Allergy details may be considered health-related data.
• Usage records needed to operate features, such as your AI coaching history.

How we use it

Your data is used solely to provide MacroMate: parsing meals into macros, tracking them against your goals, giving you coaching, and suggesting meals tailored to your goal and preferences. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

AI processing

Meal text and photos you submit are sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to extract food items and estimate macros. When you generate meal suggestions, your remaining macro targets plus any dietary preferences and allergies you set are also sent to OpenAI. They process this data to return a result and per their policy do not use API data to train their models. Avoid including sensitive personal information in meal descriptions.

Where your data lives

Data is stored in a self-hosted database on the server running this instance. Meal macros may be enriched with public nutrition data from Open Food Facts; only short search keywords are sent, never your identity.

Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. Sessions expire automatically after 30 days of inactivity.

Your rights, export & deletion

You can download a complete copy of your data at any time from Account → Download my data. You can also delete your account from Account → Danger zone. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your account and every meal, goal, favorite, and coaching record is erased and cannot be recovered. Your dietary preferences and allergies are processed only on the basis of your explicit consent, which you give when you save them and can withdraw at any time by turning the consent off or clearing the fields — this erases them and stops them being used.

Cookies

We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in and a cookie to remember your language choice. No third-party tracking or analytics cookies are used.

Children

MacroMate is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the date above.
